Estimate contract revenue, demolition, tile and fixtures, plumbing and electrical trades, crew labor, monthly profit, margin, and startup payback.

What the bathroom remodeling results mean

Monthly revenue is the total amount charged to customers for projects completed that month. It is not profit.

Monthly costs include demolition, disposal, materials, fixtures, cabinetry, subcontractors, crew labor, permits, callback reserve, marketing, and overhead.

Monthly profit = customer charges − project costs − monthly overhead. It is a rough before-tax business estimate.

Profit per project = monthly profit ÷ projects completed. Include a fair cost for the owner’s working time under crew labor; otherwise part of the displayed profit is really payment for doing the work.

FAQ

What costs belong in the estimate?

Include every direct trade, material, labor, permit, disposal, warranty, selling, and overhead cost.

Why reserve money for callbacks?

Return trips and warranty corrections consume labor and materials after the original job.

Does this include the owner’s pay?

Only if the owner’s working time is included in the crew labor input. Counting that labor helps separate wages for doing the remodeling work from profit earned by the business.

Does this include taxes?

No. It estimates profit before taxes and owner-specific financing.
